Botswana's home of the Piano wave

This Is
Simply Piano.

A Botswana music and lifestyle event built on Amapiano, grown edition by edition at Royal Aria.

01

The Beginning

Simply Piano is a Botswana urban lifestyle event, built around one sound and the people who move to it, and produced by the events company Boxyard.

It has run across multiple editions since — the 2024 event was reported as its second, and the one that followed in 2025 as its third. By that point it had settled at Royal Aria, in Tlokweng.

The earliest editions are not fully documented in this archive. Rather than fill the gap with a founding myth, the record starts where the evidence does.

The Sound

Amapiano — the log drum, the shakers, the space between them — is the spine of Simply Piano.

Around it the bill widens: rap, vocal features, live drums and dancers, and DJ sets that carry the day from the afternoon into the night. The fourth edition brings Cassper Nyovest, Focalistic, Amaroto, Nadia Nakai, Moozlie and 031Choppa alongside Botswana's Benzoo, Danya Devs, Sami Kay, Royal Musiq and a deep DJ roster.

Botswana acts are not a support slot here. They are the reason the room knows every word.

The People

The crowd is the event. Friends on the rail, groups on camp chairs on the grass, strangers who end the day knowing each other.

Simply Piano draws a young Botswana audience that comes dressed for it — and the photographs from each edition are, more than anything, a record of who was there.

04

The Culture

It is a fashion event as much as a music one. The fits are planned, the sunglasses are part of the identity, and the merch is worn long after the day itself.

Around the stage sits a village of traders — food stalls, drinks, and local businesses given a trading position inside the festival rather than outside its gates.

Boxyard founder Salim Kegodile has framed the ambition plainly: to be known for superior sound and event-hosting solutions, and to build "a wholesale of entertainment".

05

The Wave

The wave is what the event calls the thing it makes — the sound moving through a crowd, and the crowd moving with it.

It is also how Simply Piano describes its own growth. Reporting around the third edition described an event that had outgrown its earlier setup, prompting reworked crowd control, revised entrances and an expanded VIP offering.

The Future

Simply Piano 4.0 lands at Royal Aria Stadium, Tlokweng, on 25 September 2026 — gates at 2:00 pm, running through to 6:00 am — produced by Boxyard with Sunbet as title sponsor.

Boxyard's Tlotlo Kebinakgabo described the Sunbet partnership as a major step forward for the event, reflecting the growth, impact and value Simply Piano continues to create.

The line-up is announced. The running order, the festival map and the rest of the festival guide are still to come — and they will be published here as they are confirmed, not before.
